If you're vulnerable because you are self-isolating either temporarily or long-term as a result of COVID-19, our Community Response Unit can help you get a supermarket priority slot at Tesco and Iceland supermarkets to access food and essential items if you meet certain criteria. Ordered delivery from Iceland in Ashford for the first time and I am very impressed. One item was unavailable but ordered fresh fruit, veg, dairy as well as frozen items. 10-12 slot which turned up at 11.30. All items were well in date with a shelf life of at least 4 days. Our Slot Canyons Traverse backpacking trip is a 5-day, 4-night thru-hike a stunning slot canyon to where it enters the Colorado River east of the Grand Canyon. With water-polished, sandstone walls towering thousands of feet above us, these canyons are very similar to Zion Canyon but with more solitude!

With many Brits now finding themselves in self-isolation, many are looking to online shopping and supermarket deliveries to make sure they are getting supplies.

However, with slots quickly booking up, and many sites asking shoppers to wait in virtual queues for hours, it can be difficult to know where is best to shop.

With that in mind, we put together a handy guide on each of the major supermarket's minimum order amount, and their existing delivery rules and restrictions.

If you need to work out whether or not you should be considered a 'vulnerable' customer, check out consumer expert Alice Beer's segment from today's edition of This Morning.

This Morning explains who is eligible for priority delivery with online shopping

Tesco

Minimum spend: £25

Tesco says:

'Our stores have a limited number of delivery slots which are available on a first come, first serve basis. Due to recent increased customer demand, our slots are being booked up faster than normal.

'Our stores also offer Click+Collect slots which may be suitable for you if you’re still looking to place an order. You can also book a slot in advance and add a few items to your basket to secure it, which you can go back and update later.

'We are encouraging customers who shop online or choose Click+Collect for their grocery home shopping, to prioritise shopping in-store where possible.

'Our deliveries continue to operate, and we will deliver to customers in self-isolation. You can let us know that you’re in self-isolation when you order (using the delivery notes box) or let the driver know at the door, so that they can deliver safely. Our drivers will carry bags to leave your shopping in on the doorstep, where necessary.

'Our Customer Delivery Assistants have been briefed on how to verify a customer’s age in this circumstance. For example, they may ask our customers to verify their age by showing them proof of identification, where possible, either from a distance or through a window/glass.

'Our drivers may have to remove any age restricted products from the order and return them to store for a refund if we cannot verify our customer’s age.'

Asda

Minimum spend: £40

Asda says:

'We’re committed to delivering a safe service to all of our customers, including those who are self isolating. We have revised our service proposition and will now offer a contactless service for all customers.

'We’re working really hard on ensuring we have delivery slots available for as many customers as we can. Understandably the demand for online shopping is really high at present, please check back regularly as we continue to work on increasing our capacity.

'To give us more information about your current situation we’d ask you tell us in advance if you are self-isolating and where we should leave your shopping. You can do this via the app or website.

'Our drivers will check your delivery instructions to find out if you are self-isolating. Drivers are equipped with alcohol hand gel and will wear disposable gloves to deliver your shopping. Your order will be bagged and the driver will leave the carrier bags on the doorstep or in the communal area of your flats.

'The driver will alert you that your delivery is there by ringing the doorbell or calling you - please check your phone number is correct in advance of your delivery.

'If there are any age restricted products, then you may be asked either show that you are over 25 through the window or open door at a 2 metre distance.'

Iceland Priority Slots For Vulnerable

Iceland has now limited its delivery service to those over the state pension age. When you go on the Iceland website, you will receive an alert which asks you to clarify whether or not you fall into this category.

The alert reads: 'We understand this is a worrying time, but many of our customers are elderly, vulnerable or self-isolating and are unable to get to our stores to buy their essential products.

'This means that we're temporarily limiting online orders to customers who are over state pension age, self-isolating and other vulnerable people, such as the disabled. If you aren't over state pension age and can get to one of our stores, we kindly ask that you use our Store Locator to find your local Iceland and complete your shop there.

'We're working hard to add as many delivery slots as possible, however demand is currently very high. Please note that due to continued high demand in our stores, customers may still be missing items in their online orders.

We'll be in contact to let you know when online deliveries are back to normal.
